Truman College is committed to maintaining an education and work environment that is free of sex discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual stereotyping. Both state and federal laws including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended by the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972, and Illinois Human Rights Act prohibit sexual harassment in the workplace. The above-referenced federal and state laws define sexual harassment as unwelcomed sexual advances, request for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, where the conduct is made a condition of employment or education, or where submission to or rejection of such conduct is the basis for academic or personnel decision, or where such conduct interferes with the individual’s academic or work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work or learning environment.
